According to Article 28 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, all children have the right to education. In Somalia and Tanzania, the lack of equal, inclusive and quality education, is a significant challenge to children’s development, which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Children living in rural areas, alongside girls, and children with disabilities, are particularly vulnerable target groups who are at risk of never starting school, or prematurely discontinuing their education. There are several reasons for the lack of access to education, but contributing factors are socio-cultural norms, lack of qualified teachers and lack of quality and relevant educational materials.
In this project, Läkarmissionen wants to make quality education accessible to children who face barriers to learning, by testing an innovative, digital and scalable educational tool. The project will be carried out in Somalia and Tanzania.
The project is supported with 2 470 000 SEK.
