Today, there are still many “white spots” on the cultural map of Sweden – places where people have little or no opportunity to experience or participate in cultural events. As economic conditions tighten, municipalities and regions are forced to allocate fewer resources to culture. These cutbacks make access to cultural experiences increasingly difficult, especially for those living outside major cities.
Through this project, Fylkingen aims to tour the country with art and music, reaching new and diverse audiences. At the same time, they will share their expertise and build partnerships with cultural actors across Sweden to make art and music accessible to many more people in a sustainable way.
What’s happening in the project?
- Establishing new collaborations with cultural organizations across Sweden
- Delivering 30 public events in partnership with these local collaborators in areas where Fylkingen has not previously been active
- Creating new encounters and opportunities for more equitable access to culture
- Sharing knowledge and experience among cultural actors
- Building a network of participating organizers, and artists, grounded in the insights and lessons learned throughout the project
Why was the project granted support?
The project promotes equal access to a vibrant, sustainable cultural life for everyone across the country – strengthening the conditions for all people to create and experience art and culture.
