The use of Private Military and Security Actors (PMSAs) – including mercenaries, mercenary-related actors and private military and security companies – is rising globally. States and companies across industries such as mining, agriculture, forestry, and finance contract those actors to operate in a number of contexts – including conflict affected or fragile areas where business activities remain under regulated.

With this project, TRIAL International seeks to combat impunity for international crimes perpetrated in link with the provision of private military and security services, advance accountability and access to justice for victims. The project also aims to enhance the capacity of local actors to document, monitor, and report such crimes, while raising awareness to help create an environment conducive to stronger regulations for corporate actors.

The project is supported with 2 990 000 SEK.
