Nadia's Initiative

One of the areas hit very hard in the war against the Islamic State was the district of Sinjar in northern Iraq. In this project, Nadia’s Initiative, Inc. seeks to rebuild both communities and people in the Sinjar district.

The majority of those living in the Sinjar district are Yazidis, a minority group that has been particularly targeted by IS soldiers. Many Yazidis were murdered, and infrastructure was destroyed during the ravages of war. Many Yazidi women were imprisoned and used as sex slaves.

The project is supported with 5 000 000 SEK.

Detta ska hända i projektet

En kartläggning görs för att se vart insatser har störst effekt, därefter läggs resurser på att återuppbygga skolväsende och system för vatten och sanitet. Det sker även ett kunskapsutbyte med vårdpersonal från Kongo som utvecklat en framgångsrik vård av sexualbrottsoffer, som tar hänsyn till hela människan.
