Recommendations for Sweden and International

Here are six recommendations and tips to help strengthen your project application for Sweden and International.

Make sure you meet our criteria

Read through our criteria carefully before submitting your application, and make sure that your application meets all the criteria before sending it in. Read our criteria for Sweden and International here.

Clarify your project’s common thread

How do the problem, activities, and results connect? It’s important to us that the activities your organization plans to carry out in the project are clearly linked to the problem you’re addressing, and that the proposed activities can realistically lead to the intended results and impact. Make sure this connection is already established in the application! Show why these specific activities are necessary to create change and solve the described problem.

Be concrete

We receive between 1,000 and 1,500 applications each year, so our application form is relatively short. That is why it is important to describe your project idea as concretely and concisely as possible within the limited space. Clarify exactly which activities you and your organization plan to carry out, your expected results, and how you plan to measure these results.

Highlight your Unique Selling Point (USP)

In our assessment, we look at both the project idea and the applicant organization. We want to support projects where our funding can make the greatest difference. So help us understand what makes your project or organization stand out. Try to describe how your project differs, complements, or collaborates with other similar projects, and why your organization is particularly well-suited to carry it this work.

Clarify long-term impact and public reach

We want to understand from the application how your project will reach a broad public. This could involve geographic spread or long-term impact over time. Sometimes we can support pilot projects in specific locations, but we prioritize projects with a clear plan for a broader reach.

Review the questions in advance

Before filling out the application, prepare by reading through the questions in the form. Our online application form does not have a save function, so there’s a risk that your text may be lost if you’re interrupted. For this reason, we recommend that you prepare your answers in a separate document, then paste them into the form when you’re ready to submit.

Prepare your attachments

Before submitting your application, make sure to prepare the following attachments:

  • Project budget outlining the financial plan for your project.
  • Proof of registration. Submit one of the following documents, issued within the last six months, to verify your organization’s legal status:
    • Non-profit associations registered for tax, VAT or as employers can download a free “Registerutdrag” from the Swedish Tax Agency.
    • Non-profit associations not registered for tax, VAT or as employers can request a “Certificate of assigned organization number” from the Swedish Tax Agency. This may incur a fee of 225 SEK.
    • Foundations can order a free “Certificate of registration” from Länsstyrelsen.
  • Non-profit associations must also include a signed document or meeting minutes confirming the appointment of authorized signatories – individuals who are legally entitled to sign agreements on behalf of the organization. This is typically decided at the inaugural board meeting or annual general meeting. Authorized signatories may also be specified in your statutes, together with minutes from the most recent board or annual meeting.

Note! All applications must be submitted through our online application form. We do not accept applications via email.
