Through unprecedented efforts, during the Second World War, Raoul Wallenberg saved tens of thousands of lives during the Holocaust. He showed that one person can make an enormous difference. Just as in Wallenberg’s time, today’s society faces major challenges with xenophobia, racism, and exclusion. His leadership and determination is now more relevant than ever. Raoul Wallenberg’s day (August 27th) has been celebrated primarily in Stockholm since 2012. The day is also Sweden’s national day for civil courage and humanity which is known to a lesser extent.
The purpose of the project is to inspire people around the country to act with courage and unity. The project includes a kit of materials and activities used by local communities to encourage the public to act in Wallenberg’s spirit. The launch of the project will be a digital exhibition about human rights and how to make a difference, to be shown in public places around Sweden.
