After a period of relative decline, the prevalence and intensity of armed conflict in the world is on the rise again. In armed conflicts, civilians are always the most vulnerable. The responsibility for protecting civilians in conflicts often falls with the local and global civil society. It is therefore important to support civil society with knowledge and reliable tools and methods for evaluating governments’ policies and practices so that they can raise the interests and needs of civilians and hold armed actors accountable.
In this project, the Swedish Postcode Foundation, together with the Center for Civilians in Conflict, wants to develop two tools for strengthening the capacity and efficiency of civil society organizations to influence governments and armed forces to prioritize the interests of civilians.
The Postal Code Foundation supports the project with SEK 2,991,000.
Vad händer i projektet?
Projektet består av tre faser: I den första fasen ska ett ramverk för utvärdering och en resursguide för påverkansarbete tas fram. I fas två av projektet kommer organisationen att testa ramverkets och resursguidens användbarhet i två pilotprojekt, ett i Ukraina och ett i Niger. I projektets sista fas ska två rundabordssamtal genomföras med bland annat representanter från FN och EU där ramverket presenteras och diskuteras.
