Due to conflicts and disasters, there are over 45 million internally displaced people in the world. In war torn Syria alone, there are almost 6.5 million people displaced in their own country. Despite the high number, there is a lack of information about the situation of internally displaced persons. They live in vulnerability and often have only limited access to basic resources. Girls and young women are particularly vulnerable and risk not being able to take advantage of an education but are instead exposed to violence and child marriage.
In this project, the Swedish Postcode Foundation, together with Project Soar, wants to provide support to girls who are internally displaced persons in northwestern Syria in order to increase the target group’s autonomy and improve their faith in the future.
Vad händer i projektet?
Projektet kommer att kartlägga situationen för internflyktingar i Syrien och anpassa utbildningsprogram till en lokal kontext. Lokala ideella organisationer ska utbildas för att sedan kunna sprida kunskaper om självkänsla, självförtroende, självmant, kunskap om rättigheter, kontroll över den egna kroppen och tro på framtiden till eleverna. Slutligen ska Project Soar arbeta med lokala aktörer för att förankra och skala upp programmet.
