Young people in Nigeria face acute sexual and reproductive health risks due to low awareness and low use of modern contraception.  MTV Staying Alive Foundation is working to increase contraceptive use in Nigeria through its innovative and hugely popular MTV Shuga mass media campaign.  The project will train young peer educators to use MTV Shuga media as an educational resource, to reach their peers with entertaining and immersive sexual health education.

The project is supported with 1 695 000 SEK.

What the project delivers

Entertaining, peer-led sexual health education, built around MTV Shuga media content.

Why we support this project

Hundreds and thousands of girls and women die each year related to childbirth and pregnancies, often by reasons that easily could be prevented with proper healthcare and information. This project will help ensure that less women put their life and health at risk due to unwanted pregnancies.
