Every year, six million children in developing countries die due to preventable and treatable diseases, including malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia. A key solution to this problem exists in local health workers. Health workers are often the first and only link to health care for many people around the world. In this project, Living Goods will create a sustainable, high-impact community health system of local community health workers that will provide essential, primary health care to pregnant women, newborns, and children under five in Isiolo County, Kenya—a region with high rates of infant and maternal mortality as well as low immunization rates.
What the project delivers
Recruitment and training of local health workers, support to local authorities to strengthen community health policy.
Why we support this project
Working with local health workers has proved to be an effective method contributing to the global goal for good health and well-being.
