The Swedish Postcode Lottery

The Swedish Postcode Lottery Foundation was established in 2003 by Svenska Postkodlotteriet AB, which owns the format and operates the Swedish Postcode Lottery on behalf of the Swedish Postcode Association*.

The Swedish Postcode Lottery is Sweden’s largest lottery — and also the country’s largest private donor to the non-profit sector. The Postcode Lottery has a unique concept: you win together with your neighbors while contributing to a better world.

The entire surplus from the Swedish Postcode Lottery goes to civil society organizations working for a better world. The Swedish Postcode Lottery Foundation is one of 62 organizations that annually share over one billion SEK. Since its launch in 2005, lottery participants have contributed 16.5 billion SEK to these organizations — money that has made a significant difference in Sweden and around the world.

*In Sweden, non-profit associations that have received a license from the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) are allowed to organize lotteries to raise funds for charitable and socially beneficial activities. The Swedish Postcode Association has organized the Swedish Postcode Lottery since 2005, and holds a lottery license from the Swedish Gambling Authority.
