Transforming the Playing Field

The sport for development (S4D) sector has grown rapidly in the past 20 years, but it is still very unequal. Organisations in high-income regions have more resources for programmes and more influence on policy. The sport for development (S4D) sector has grown rapidly in the past 20 years, but it is still very unequal. Organisations in high-income regions have more resources for programmes and more influence on policy. Covid-19 has exacerbated that inequality, with organisations in more under-resourced regions at risk, while recent gains made may be lost (e.g. gender equity in sport). One reason for the inequality in the sector is that information and resources are often siloed across the sector, inaccessible and exclusive. Having the right knowledge and tools enables actors to create a greater impact through their programmes and policies, benefitting the communities they support.

In this project, Swiss Academy for Development seeks to strength the Sport for Good sector through ensuring accessibility and inclusivity of information specifically for under-resourced countries.

The Swedish Postcode Foundation supports the project with 1 660 000 sek.
